Ron
White's Ezine
February 1, 2007 Issue 36
Welcome!
Gutten Tag, Bonjour and Hola!
I am having a blast traveling Europe as I make my way to Brussels for my
memory seminar this Friday, and then next week I will give the same
seminar in Puerto Rico. In these workshops, I am going to teach people
on different continents to give speeches without notes, memorize
chapters of books, recall names, numbers, poems, product knowledge, and
much more!
If you are in charge of bringing in speakers for your organization I
promise to deliver a fun, fast paced and dynamic talk on 'The Business
Building Power of a Trained Memory'. I will memorize up to 150 names in
the room and then memorize a 40-digit number in less than 90 seconds and
then teach you how to do it! This will be a great addition to any
conference! It is fun, fun, fun and very educational!
You may also attend a public seminar that I am having Feb. 19th and 20th
in Dallas.
Sign up for the Dallas seminar below. See you there!

1. Does Speed Reading have a Direct Correlation to
Income? by Ron White
It has been said that standard education will get you jobs, and
self-education will make you fortunes. This is no doubt true, and I
believe that reading is a key skill necessary to self-education.
Statistics say the average CEO in America reads 4-5 books per month
while the average American reads 1 book per year! This same statistic
goes on to say that 60% of those average American's don't even get past
the first chapter in that one book! You may shrug your shoulders and say
– okay big deal – so what? I am not a reader and why should that bother
me?
Whether it should bother you or not is for you to decide. I simply share
the facts with you. So here is another interesting fact: The average CEO
of a fortune 500 company will earn an average of 536 times the salary of
the average employee of the company he runs. This means that the
employee of that company will work for a year and a half to equal the
salary of the CEO for one day! What an extremely amazing and true
statistic! Now, I am not going to suggest to you that the only
difference between the CEO and the average employee is that the CEO
reads a lot of books and the employee doesn't, however, I will suggest
to you that is one of the major differences.
Now, if it is true that knowledge and even reading has a correlation to
income, and I believe that it does, then wouldn't it be logical to
conclude that it is in our benefit and interest to learn to read faster.
So the good news is that you can learn to read faster. However, the more
important factor here is that you can read faster WITH comprehension.
You see if you simply read faster but do not comprehend or recall what
you have read, then what have you gained? Not only is speed reading with
comprehension and retention possible for the human mind, you'll be glad
to learn it really is not a tough chore. The challenge is in learning
the system. Because we know your brain is very systematic, then we can
actually train it to read faster. Thomas Jefferson said that if we do
everything that we are capable of we would truly astound ourselves.
The human mind is the greatest computer ever created. Nothing in the
world will ever compare to it. It is a truly phenomenal machine that,
when fed, will respond with results that will astound you. Benjamin
Franklin told us that if we take the pennies from our pockets and put
them in our heads, our heads will then fill up our pockets once again.
This is so true. The person who invests time educating himself will reap
a lifetime of extra knowledge, fun and income.
So let's do what Franklin suggested and spend our pennies on books. As
we read these books faster and faster and gain more and more knowledge,
we'll look back in amazement as our knowledge and quality of life
increases. By increasing your reading speed, you are doing just one of
the things you are capable of. My hope is that it will spark a fire in
you to learn even more and in doing so develop and use more of your
potential. Do this by continually learning and feeding the flames with
information, knowledge and action.

3. How Does Thinking Make a Difference? by Ed Foreman
Every one of us, at one time or another, has experienced difficulty. If
you haven't, you're likely to 'such as the loss of a job, a business
failure, an unexpected drop in stock market prices devaluing your
retirement portfolio, fire, flood, divorce, the loss of a loved one,
etc. How we deal with that difficult experience determines its impact
upon our lives. Long term, it is not what happens to us that's so
important. It is how we respond to what happens to us that makes the
difference! Does that mean we can actually alter "reality" by the way we
"think" about it? YES, we can.
The next likely question; then is, "I suppose you'd be happy, confident,
cheerful, positive and enthusiastic if your spouse had just walked out
on you or if you'd just lost your job?" Only if you desire
reconciliation with your spouse, or if you want to remarry. Only if you
desire to get another job equal to or better than the one you had! If
you go around complaining, whining and criticizing your former spouse,
telling everyone how unfair, inconsiderate, no-good, and difficult that
person was, do you think they would want to marry you? If you criticize
and complain loud and long enough, they'll soon understand why your
spouse left you!
Do you think a prospective new employer would want to hire you if you
are critical, condemning and remorseful about your previous employer? Or
about how thoughtless, unappreciative and unfair they had been to you?
They probably already have their quota of sourpusses!
All of us regret the loss of a loved one, young or old, and there will
always be a reasonable period of mourning. However, to hang on to, and
dwell upon that hollow, hurtful feeling and painful memory for an
extended length of time will begin to take its toll upon you.
Physically, mentally and emotionally and upon your love, appreciation
and feeling for those whom you still have in your life. Reflect lovingly
upon the positive impact that person had upon your life, review the good
times you shared together and celebrate their life, instead of dwelling
upon their departure! Life is uncertain, no one is here eternally. Enjoy
and savor the time we have (or that we've had) together, here, now, and
today.
Our life, our health, our being, becomes what we THINK. YES, our cells
are always eavesdropping on our thoughts. Thoughts are real things that
cause actions that develop into habits that make us happy or sad,
relaxed or tense, healthy or sick, rich or poor. Life is for living not
just for enduring, not for just tolerating, but to be lived, savored and
enjoyed.
Make today a good day and you'll have enjoyed a GOOOD LIFE, today.
Repeat the process, DAILY. It becomes a Habit!

The
statistics speak for themselves; the faster a person reads, the more
books they will read and eventually the more money they will make over
the course of their lives. This is what the statistics tell us.
Therefore, I want to encourage you not only to nurture your desire to
read, but also your desire to read faster.
Speed Reading is an extremely comprehensive program and covers
everything from the very basics of speed reading to building your

faster, the goal is to read faster coupled with retaining what you are
reading.
