Welcome!
Two weeks ago I shared with you a story of a salesman who had sold me a rug, not by cramming his presentation down my throat, but by masterfully asking questions. Instead of telling me the price, he asked, 'Which one do you like?' to lead me to the sale. I have become somewhat of a regular at this flea market type of
bazaar. I went back last week and was once again approached by an incredible salesman... but this salesman was only 12 years old!
I saw he had money from other countries he was selling and that is something that I collect. I asked him how much a particular currency was and this 12 year old master salesman gave me 'The Puppy Dog Close.' He told me how much it was, but then when I told him I didn't have any cash on me, he said that I could just take it with me and pay me next time! I was floored and soon learned this was one of his common techniques. This kid sells a TON of stuff with 'The Puppy Dog Close.' This close says - you let people take the puppy home for the weekend and they will fall in love with and keep it.
So I took the money and returned to pay him later as I promised. This 12 year old knew where I worked so it wasn't such a big risk, and he closed a sale he wouldn't have gotten otherwise. If there is any way to offer 'The Puppy Dog Close' in your line of work... do it and sell more! Let them take it home for the weekend, have a two week free trial, get a 30 minute free excerpt of your product or free samples.
This close works for 12 year old and it can work for you.

1. What Am I Doing Wrong? by Ron White
Several years ago I called a special meeting. I went to my staff and I told them that the next day at 1:00 we were going to have a special meeting. The topic of the meeting was going to be all the areas that I as their boss could improve upon. One of my employees stood up and said, 'Okay... right now?'
I replied, 'No, we will do this tomorrow at one o'clock'. She said very matter of factly, 'Oh... I am ready now.' I smiled and told her that I wanted her to at least PRETEND that it would take her 24 hours to think of how I could improve!
The next day at one o'clock I found out that this employee had gone home and spent one hour composing a list. I think it was the first time she ever put in ANY effort after 5 pm! She had a list of 23 areas that I needed to improve upon! The others at the meeting had suggestions as well, but not to that extent.
Before the meeting I had informed everyone that their job was secure whatever their suggestions were. I wanted them to be brutally honest so I could get better and the company could improve. They were indeed honest and because they trusted me did not fear for their job with their statements. Of the suggestions, 75% were good and accurate. 25% were totally off base and they were wrong. With that said, not once in the meeting did I defend myself. With every suggestion (right or wrong), I thanked them and wrote it down in my notebook. Never once did I defend or explain myself.
It was a very productive meeting for everyone involved. My employees felt valued because I came to them for advice and the company improved because we changed some procedures. It is hard to accept constructive criticism. However, if you desire to be successful it is quality you must embody.
Ask for constructive criticism from those around you. They will feel valued that you asked and most likely you will become a better friend, manager or spouse because of it. Don't defend yourself... just get better.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
3. "SOMEDAY" and "IF ONLY" by Ed Foreman
The young boy, the young girl, says, "Someday when I get out of school, move away from home and start to college, I'm really going to have fun, I'll be happy and life will be great." The college student says, "Someday when I graduate, get my degree, get a job, my own apartment, I'll be happy and am really gonna' live!" The young couple says, "When we get moved into our new home, get that promotion and join the Country Club, we'll really be happy and life will be so good." Mother and father say, "Someday, when those kids get out of school and we get this place paid off, we're really gonna' be happy and truly enjoy life." The accountant says, "When tax season's over
"; the teacher says, "When school's out
"; the farmer says, "When the crops are in
"; the technician says, "When this program's completed
"; the engineer says, "When this job's done
"; the speaker/entertainer says, "When this tour's finished
"; the candidate says, "When I'm elected
"; the coach/player says, "When the season's over
"; the statistician says, "When all the numbers are in
"; the health minister says, "When I see what the others are gonna' do
";
ad infinitum. The older couple says, "Someday when we retire, we're really gonna' enjoy life, do all those things we've been wanting to do but never seemed to take time to do
we're gonna' be happy 'n have a good time then!"
On the way out, they look back longingly and say, "Wow! If only I had it to do over again, I'd have gone barefooted to school in the spring like Billy Bob did
'n slipped off to the creek with Ralph Raymond and Joe Day to go swimming after school like they did. If only I hadn't gotten married so young, I'd have gone to Alaska with Ed, Kendall and Pete
what fun that would have been! If only I'd borrowed the money, taken the chance, and developed that idea of mine into a business like Ed did instead of taking a job with the Grist Mill because of the security they offered, two weeks vacation with pay each year
a company car and expense account
an insurance program
retirement, social security, 'n a gold watch. If only I could do it over again, I'd smile more, worry less
I'd take chances, I'd travel to exotic places, meeting interesting people, ride motorcycles, fly airplanes and hot air balloons
I'd hike mountain trails, zip across the desert, camp out, canoe, portage, fish, hunt, laugh, love and live! Oh, if only I could live it all over, I'd take better care of myself, exercise more often, drink less booze 'n more juice
eat less fat 'n more veggies. I'd treasure every day, love everybody, thank God for my blessings and lessons, my successes and my setbacks
" if only
"I'd be happy and truly live every day!"
There's an old fable...and the title of a recent great book by Mark L. Feldman and Michael F. Spratt that goes, "There were five frogs on a log
four of 'em decided to jump. How many frogs are left on the log? The most common answer is one. The second most popular answer is none
because, they reason, if four decided to jump, the remaining frog probably went along with the majority. The right answer is five! Deciding to do something and taking the action to do it, are two entirely different things! My Daddy used to say, "Aiming to, don't pick no cotton!"
The leaders
the real winners in life are the ones who evaluate the situation, make a decision and take action! Got something that's bothering you? Write out in a clear, complete statement, not a question, the challenge you are facing. Ask yourself, "What are the causes of this situation?" Often you resolve it there
if not
then ask yourself, "What are all the possible answers to this challenge?" Write out all the possible answers
brainstorm, don't evaluate. Then review all the possible answers
decide on the best possible answer
then ACT
do it now! Get rid of the "Someday I'm gonna
" and the "If only
" syndrome, and get on with LIFE!

4. Time to Go Back to School!

You
know I'm always encouraging my readers to accelerate their learning
and skills, and most of my products are geared towards helping you
achieve that. Well, recently I've done some traveling
internationally and the importance of possessing the skill of
speaking additional languages really became clear to me. Now, while
this isn't a product I've developed, I came across one that I HIGHLY
endorse and recommend. Not only can you learn 1 additional language,
you can learn 3! Yep, you read right, THREE languages. So take a
minute to read the details below and then click the link to buy this
incredible set! -- RW
In as little as 10 minutes a day, you can learn a new language!
The "EasyLearn"
method is Easier and More Fun than any other language learning
program–GUARANTEED
Yes, learning a language can be fun, and it can be easy when you
follow the EasyLearn method. Unfortunately, many people I talk with
have shattered dreams about learning another language. Some have had
classes that were long, monotonous, and expensive, and they never
met at convenient times. Others have used tape programs from
bookstores with only one or two CDs, and they provided little more
than a guide.
Languages bring a new dimension to life. Your brain functions
differently. New ideas easily pop into your head. You become a more
agile, fluid thinker with benefits spilling throughout your life.
As the world becomes smaller, other countries are not as remote as
they seemed just 10 years ago. And, with world travel easier and
less expensive than ever, now is the time to explore a new language.
In just a month or two, you will have enough language to comfortably
travel in another country.
Grab 10 minutes first thing in the morning, on your lunch break at
work, or after dinner in the evening. It may be in your car driving
to work or while you are fixing dinner or taking a bath. Twenty
minutes could be on the Stairmaster at the club, relaxing in the
backyard, or digging in the garden.
Plus Super Bonus: All three languages
for the price of one (Spanish, French, and German programs - all for
the price of one).
Ideal for the beginner and someone wanting a refresher.
EasyLearn Languages features:
- Accelerated learning methods to help the whole brain absorb a new
language faster and more completely than through convention programs
- Crisp and clear pronunciation
- 12 fun and relaxing adventures for each language
- An easy-to-follow playbook
- No memorization exercises
- A pleasant, useful, and relaxing supplement to nearly any language
learning
EasyLearn Languages helps you:
- Effortlessly learn a base for travel
- Build a useful vocabulary of 800 words
- Enhance language classes and other learning experiences
- Understand the texture and feeling of other cultures
- Revitalize language you may have learned previously
- Begin to think in your new language
Today you don't have to decide which language to buy. You get them
all. Although you might be interested in Spanish today, French will
catch your fancy tomorrow. Languages can be addictive. A fun hobby.
And, when you see the similarities between languages, they are even
easier to learn. Lastly, don't be stingy, share your CDs with
friends and family!
Plus in addition to three languages for
the price of one, the first 100 to order receive an additional
discount!!
