Welcome!
He got involved.
Wesley Autrey took action when others wouldn't.
Wesley is the New York City man who, a couple of weeks ago, jumped on
the subway tracks when a man having a seizure faced sure death as a
subway sped towards his helpless body. Wesley said later that he knew
something needed to be done and 'I'm the only one to do it.'
Wesley jumped on the tracks, rolled with the man to a hole and covered
the man's body with his own. The subway train just barely skimmed the
body of Wesley as it passed over the two men.
Cameron Hollopeter is alive today because a man took action and got
involved in the life of another. I believe Wesley when he said he
thought, 'I am the only one to do it.' Because everyone will watch
tragedy with onlooker curiosity but very few will get involved in the
life of another; and nothing I could write in this welcome note will
most likely change that instinct.
However, the greater tragedy is this - that many not only watch the
lives of others helplessly unfold without getting involved - the even
greater tragedy is that many watch their own lives unfold as spectators
and fail to get involved in their own lives and destiny!
Take a lesson from a New York City hero and get involved in life! Get
involved in your OWN life. Jump on the tracks of life today and don't be
a bystander. Be courageous with your ideas, set goals, dare to be
rejected, dare to fail, dare to look like a fool, dare to lose it all
and dare to get involved in your own life.
You don't have to jump in front of a subway train this week to get
involved in your life - but you do need to get involved.
Jump on the tracks of life and don't be a bystander in your own life.

1. Your Brain is the Greatest Computer Ever Created by Ron White
Have you ever walked into a room and couldn't remember what you went
there for? Have you ever grasped the hand of a potential client and then
when the handshake broke, the name seemed to disappear from your memory?
Or have you ever left a prospect and as you drove away remembered a key
point that you should have shared with them?
Of course you have... we all have. However, I have some great news for
you. Your memory is nowhere near as bad as you may think it is.
Recently, I was a guest at a radio station in Waco. The disc jockey
wrote a 50-digit number on a sheet of paper and told his listening
audience and then played a three-minute song for his audience.
As the listeners enjoyed the song I memorized the 50-digit number. When
the song was over we went back live on the air and I handed him the
paper. I then proceeded to say the number forwards and then I said it
backwards. The disc jockey looked at me in utter disbelief and stunned
he said, 'Ron... you are incredible!' I looked him straight in the eye
and replied, 'You know... you are right!' I said, 'Jay, the greatest
computer ever created does not come from Dell or Gateway. The greatest
computer ever created does not sit on the assembly line of a computer
factory. Instead, you and I are the greatest computers ever created. And
yes... you are right. I am incredible... but so are you.'
The human memory has the ability to hear a 100 digit number or more once
and then repeat it forwards and backwards, it has the ability to
memorize a Shakespearean play word for word or memorize the stats of
every baseball player for the last 100 years, and the human memory has
the capability to meet 100 people in 20 minutes and recall every single
name!
Now, the question is, are you doing these things? If not, the reason is
simply that you have not been trained to. Two thousand years ago a Greek
named Simonedes developed a memory method called 'Loci'. With this
method, Simonedes numbered locations in his home. He started in the
doorway and then logically proceeded around his home. He reviewed these
items so many times mentally that if you asked him what was number 25
then he could instantly tell you what piece of furniture that number
corresponded to.
These 25 objects were actually mental files for Simonedes. Then if he
had a list of items he wanted to recall he would place them mentally on
these objects in his home. Let's say that you are a professional who
wants to give a speech without notes. Simply turn the key points into
pictures and then file them to your 'house files'. When you are called
upon to speak simply mentally walk through the house and give your talk
without notes.
For example, recently I gave a one hour keynote in Atlanta at a home
builders conference. I wrote my speech out the night before. The first
thing I wanted to do was talk about the book, 'How to Win Friends and
Influence People.' So I visualized the book on my front door and then
mentally walked through my house and gave the one hour talk without
notes! That can work for you as well. Anything that you want to recall
simply turn it into a picture, place it on your house files and get
ready to be amazed! YOU are the greatest computer ever created!

2. Quotes of
The Week
ACTION
"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a
day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've everything to
do, and you've done it." -- Margaret Thatcher
"Luck is the by-product of busting your fanny." -- Don Sutton
"The greatest choice we have is to think before we act and then take
action toward our life goals every day. Our problems result not only
from our lack of action, but from our action without thought." -- Denis
Waitley
"Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits." -- Thomas Edison
"One of the marks of superior people is that they are action-oriented.
One of the marks of average people is that they are talk-oriented." --
Brian Tracy
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." --
Albert Einstein
"Inspirations never go in for long engagements; they demand immediate
marriage to action." -- Brendan Francis
"Our real problem is not our strength today; it is rather the vital
necessity of action today to ensure our strength tomorrow." -- Calvin
Coolidge
"The most drastic and usually the most effective remedy for fear is
direct action." -- William Burnham
"He who waits upon fortune is never sure of dinner." -- Benjamin
Franklin
"The path to success is to take massive, determined action." -- Anthony
Robbins
"Everyone who's ever taken a shower has an idea. It's the person who
gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it that
makes a difference." -- Nolan Bushnell
"Let him that would move the world, first move himself." -- Socrates
"Nothing will work unless you do." -- John Wooden
"Take action every day - some small dose at a time." -- Jeffrey Gitomer
"Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not
only the result, but the cause of fear. Perhaps the action you take will
be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to
follow. But any action is better than no action at all." -- Norman
Vincent Peale
"It's the action, not the fruit of the action that’s important. You have
to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your
time, that there'll be any fruit. But that does not mean you stop doing
the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action.
But if you do nothing, there will be no results." -- Mahatma Gandhi
3. The Most Important Meetings You'll Ever Attend Are the Meetings You Have With Yourself by Denis Waitley
You are your most important critic. There is no opinion so vitally
important to your well being as the opinion you have of yourself. As you
read this you're talking to yourself right now. "Let's see if I
understand what he means by that… How does that compare with my
experiences? – I'll make note of that – try that tomorrow – I already
knew that… I already do that." I believe this self-talk, this
psycholinguistics or language of the mind can be controlled to work for
us, especially in the building of self-confidence and creativity. We're
all talking to ourselves every moment of our lives, except during
certain portions of our sleeping cycle. We're seldom even aware that
we're doing it. We all have a running commentary in our heads on events
and our reactions to them.
• Be aware of the silent conversation you have with yourself. Are you a
nurturing coach or a critic? Do you reinforce your own success or negate
it? Are you comfortable saying to yourself, "That's more like it." "Now
we're in the groove." "Things are working out well." "I am reaching my
financial goals." "I'll do it better next time."
• When winners fail, they view it as a temporary inconvenience, a
learning experience, an isolated event, and a stepping-stone instead of
a stumbling block.
• When winners succeed, they reinforce that success, by feeling rewarded
rather than guilty about the achievement and the applause.
• When winners are paid a compliment, they simply respond: "Thank you."
They accept value graciously when it is paid. They pay value in their
conversations with themselves and with other people.
A mark of an individual with healthy self-esteem is the ability to spend
time alone, without constantly needing other people around. Being
comfortable and enjoying solitary time reveals inner peace and
centering. People who constantly need stimulation or conversation with
others are often a bit insecure and thus need to be propped up by the
company of others.
Always greet the people you meet with a smile. When introducing yourself
in any new association, take the initiative to volunteer your own name
first, clearly; and always extend your hand first, looking the person in
the eyes when you speak.
In your telephone communications at work or at home, answer the
telephone pleasantly, immediately giving your own name to the caller,
before you ask who's calling. Whenever you initiate a call, always give
your own name up front, before you ask for the party you want and before
you state your business. Leading with your own name underscores that a
person of value is making the call.
Don't brag. People who trumpet their exploits and shout for service are
actually calling for help. The showoffs, braggarts and blowhards are
desperate for attention.
Don't tell your problems to people, unless they're directly involved
with the solutions. And don't make excuses. Successful people seek those
who look and sound like success. Always talk affirmatively about the
progress you are trying to make.
As we said earlier, find successful role models after whom you can
pattern yourself. When you meet a mastermind, become a master mime, and
learn all you can about how he or she succeeded. This is especially true
with things you fear. Find someone who has conquered what you fear and
learn from him or her.
When you make a mistake in life, or get ridiculed or rejected, look at
mistakes as detours on the road to success, and view ridicule as
ignorance. After a rejection, take a look at your BAG. B is for
Blessings. Things you are endowed with that you often take for granted
like life itself, health, living in an abundant country, family,
friends, career. A is for accomplishments. Think of the many things you
are proud of that you have done so far. And G is for Goals. Think of
your big dreams and plans for the future that motivate you. If you took
your BAG – blessings, accomplishments and goals – to a party, and spread
them on the floor, in comparison to all your friends and the people you
admire, you'd take your own bag home, realizing that you have as much
going for yourself as anyone else. Always view rejection as part of one
performance, not as a turndown of the performer.
And, enjoy those special meetings with yourself. Spend this Saturday
doing something you really want to do. I don’t mean next month or
someday. This Saturday enjoy being alive and being able to do it. You
deserve it. There will never be another you. This Saturday will be
spent. Why not spend at least one day a week on You!
Action Idea: Go for one entire day and night without saying anything
negative to yourself or to others. Make a game of it. If a friend or
colleague catches you saying something negative, you must put ½ dollar
in a drawer or container toward a dinner or evening out with that
person. Do this for one month and see who has had to pay the most money
toward the evening.
